There were a host of familiar local names to the fore in Sunday's Ramsey 10k. Here is Barry's report.

Steve Robinson of Peterborough AC claimed the win by a handsome margin. The 32 year old Wittering based RAF corporal flew to victory in 32:44, 40 seconds ahead of runner up John Pike of Newham and Essex Beagles. Triathlete Paul Vernon was invincible in last winter's Frostbite League, but had to settle for third place on the mixed terrain Ramsey circuit.

Felicity Milton was the emphatic winner of the ladies race, coming home in a time of 35:58 The 28 year old mechanical engineering graduate from Stamford is now based in Germany, and has made quite a name for herself on the German running scene. winning a number of races, including last month's Wurzburg Half Marathon.

Nene Valley's Philippa Taylor rarely has to settle for second best, but she met her match at Ramsey. finishing 2nd behind Milton in 37.16. Triathlete Tracy McCartney, was 3rd lady home, in the colours of Nene Valley Harriers. Great Britain triathlete McCartney is a successful person trainer, and is now advising BBC presenter Louise Minchen with her preparations before she represents Great Britain in September's world triathlon championship in Chicago.

The youngsters 3k fun run was won by Riverside Runner Callum nicholson, with Nene Valley's Matthew Church following him home.

The first two girls home were Ramsey Road Runner Olivia Read, and Lois Russell from Thorney Running Club.
