Northern Athletics Indoor Champs , Sheffield

We had two athletes at the North of England Athletics Indoor Championships for under 13 and under 15s at Sheffield on Sunday.

The star of the day was Hannah Molyneaux. Hannah competing in her first competition as a Nene Valley Harrier following her move up to Lincolnshire from Bournemouth won the under 15 girls shot putt with an indoor personal best of 13.01m. This was over one metre ahead of her nearest competitor and was established in the very first round. This throw gave her first Northern Championship title, a Nene Valley Harriers club record and established her at the top of the UK rankings for the 3kg shot.

Jasmine Allen also competed in the under 15 girls 200m. She ran well fighting to the line to win her heat and qualify by right for the semi-finals running a respectable time of 27.83s. This was Jasmine's first outing since a car accident earlier this year after a training session. She found the semi-final tough going due to the recovery her body has been through but still posted a time of 28.13s to finish one place higher than her qualifying position.
