Invitational meeting at Manchester

31/05/2014
Nene Valley Harriers duo Lloyd Kempson and James McCrae both smashed their previous personal bests on Saturday (May 31) when they were invited to compete in the exclusive British Milers’ Club Sportcity Grand Prix in Manchester.

Kempson, an U23 on the track this season, ran five seconds quicker than he’d done before when he finished fourth in his 1500m race in 4:00.48. The time places him 82nd in the country for his age group, and the 19 year-old is now just another five seconds away from securing membership to the BMC, which only accepts athletes who meet strict standards.

McCrae, who only turned 17 this April, ran an incredible 1:55.65 to knock nearly two seconds off his 800m PB, a time which places him 54th U20 in the country in 2014. He now meets the BMC criteria for membership for his age group, which is 2:00.00. He needs to run 1:52.00 this year to meet the gold standard.
