Nene Valley Harriers enjoyed their most successful campaign in the men's 6 stage Road Relays for many years, finishing 38th in the national finals at Sutton Coldfield on Saturday. Having qualified for the finals by the skin of their teeth, the city club's runners could have been forgiven for expecting a tough day, but they acquitted themselves superbly in an event which saw 74 teams complete the course. The Harriers off to a flying start with an 18:27 clocking on the 6k course, which put them in 35th place. Joe Turner ran the 2nd leg in a time of 19:28, handing over the baton to 17 year old Jake Richardson who finished with his team in 41st position, after completing his lap in 19:22.

Drew Warnes ran the 4th leg in 20:03, and Nene Valley were in 42nd position after James McCrae's 19:51 clocking.

Chris Wright ran the anchor leg, and his time of 18:58 lifted the team up to a noteworthy 38th position.
