Jasmine breaks U15 200m club record

Jasmine Allen broke an U15 girl's club record while attending the first Regional Championships of her athletics career at Sheffield on Sunday 2 February 2014.

Jasmine went to the EIS in order to gain experience for a future which based on yesterday's performance should contain many such meetings. Jasmine started the day with her 200m heat and ran her all time best 27.64 in the 200m. This was also a club record. A great indication of the outdoor season to come. She was unfortunate as with two to qualify she was in the heat which saw not only the fastest competitor but the ultimate champion and also the bronze medallist. Her time was the fastest to miss the semi-final and actually quicker than three of the qualifiers.

Not satisfied with a personal best and club record in the 200m she jumped a personal best indoor performance of 4.55m. This almost matched the performance in the 200m missing out on the long jump file by just 1cm.

Her final event really was the pinnacle of a great day for the Langtoft athlete. She powered to a personal best 8.51s in the 60m, knocking over half a second of the time she ran last year. Not only was this a personal best but it was below the England Athletics qualifying time and it meant that she was a qualifier for the semi-finals by right. The semi final was a tough race but she competed well finishing 6th in a time of 8.61.

Well done Jasmine!
