Nene Valley Harriers had a handful of athletes attend the London Games at Lea Valley over the weekend. This is a quality meeting which gives the athletes a chance to get muscles moving ready for the New Year. Here are coach Ken Maggs' highlights.

Jordon Wilson and Julian Smith competed in the 60m on Sunday and both performed well and only marginally under their personal bests. Jordon ran 7.41 (pb of 7.40) and Julian competed in both heats and recorded consistent times of 7.89 followed by 7.86.

Jordon also ran in the 200m on Saturday recording a seasons best time of 23.65. Georgie Ivens competing in the senior ladies 200m ran a personal best indoor time of 26.33 and then followed that with her second best indoor time for the 400m coming through late in the second lap with a time of 58.12.

New member, Maria Hollingsworth also recorded a personal best on Staurday with some smooth hurdling in the under 20 ladies 60m and in doing so broke the club records for under 20 and senior ladies set by Emma Hornsby just 3 weeks ago. Her two heat times of 9.08 followed by 8.98 both broke the club record with the later setting her own personal best. These results are suggesting a strong opportunity for the NVH ladies in the summer, both personally and for the club.

On Sunday a good group of athletes went over to Kings Lynn for their annual indoor Keith Ward meeting.

Georgie Ivens competed in the ladies 400m (running for University of Central Lancashire - UCLan) recording a quality time of 57.72, just marginally off her personal best having lead the race from the gun to tape and well clear of second place. without the quality Loughborough athletes in her field this was a hard way to compete. Her time was only beaten by 4 others.

She then competed in the 200m and recorded a personal best and senior ladies club indoor record 25.99 seconds and finishing 2nd in her heat and 5th overall on the day.
