Here is Russ' report from the Cambs XC Champs this weekend.

Cambridgeshire cross country champs 5th January @ Priory Park St Neots

A very busy weekend for Nene Valley harriers split between Cambridgeshire & Lincolnshire, even so the club competed very well bringing home team & individual awards from both championships.
In the Cambridgeshire event team gold for the U/20 men. Lloyd Kempson with his best race of the season led the team in 3rd & 15th. In the mens race Chris Allison was next home in 6th & 27th closing the team in Kieran Jack 7th & 29th . Lloyd & Chris also helped the men to team Silver.

Micheal Moore was top senior in an excellent 8th, supported by Adam Birch 17th, Andrew Jakeman 18th and Mike chapman 23rd. The senior ladies also had a good race led in by Tracey McCartney 4th, Ruth Jones 10th, Nicky Morgan 22nd, Carrie Murphy 35th, with Louise Blake 32nd. The ladies were 4th senior team & 2nd vet.

More success in both U/15 boys & girls where they took bronze behind a very strong Cambridge team. Austin Herbert, Ollie Bowling, Bradley Allan, Emma Gibb, Jasmine Oldfield & Imogen Woodard made up the team. Supporting their team Bardley White, Edwin Flack & Olivia Ozkan.

The U/13 girls went one level better taking the silver medal. Kelsi Ellis looked strong for her 4th place, Amber park with another good run was 9th just behind was Josephine Fortune in 10th , the girls were well supported by Ellie Piccaver 12th & Rosie Wiles 24th .

Just missing a team award was the u/11 boys in 4th. Matt Church 9th, Sam Oakley 16th, Tom Friend 26th & Ewan Heron 48th. One u/11 girl also made the trip, so well done to Eden Oldfield working hard for her 16th.

The u/13 boys, u/17 boys & u/17 girls all suffered losses to their squads through illness. However, the u/13 boys still closed a team in Charlie Bamford who was first for the club with Jonathon Friend not far behind. Reece drew making a great effort to close the team in. In the u/17s girls, Georgia Gibb raced well for 4th & with Annie Gery made the county squad. Damian Rutterford worked hard for his 10th as did Jamie Toms in 13th.

Overall for both Lincs and Cambs counties:
Team: Golds 4; Silver 4; Bronze 4
Individual: Golds 2; Silver 5; Bronze 4
Athletes up for selection for their county: 36

Well done to all you have done the club & yourselves proud!
