  • 04 Feb 10: Message from Lindi Marson - The sponsored charity walk on Sunday for Help for Heroes and the hospital orthopaedic charity, MASTOR-Lincs, went very well with over 80 people turning up. Lincolnshire Medical Services provided free paramedic and ambulance cover on the day, and CCTV Security provided all the advertising material for me prior to the event. A lot of children and dogs accompanied by their owners came along,  and the latter were very well behaved! Mr Peter Tasker from the local council led the walk and gave a guided tour and history of Horncastle. He explained the swimming pool used to be a dry dock for barges where the two rivers meet and talked to us about William Marwood, the hangman of Horncastle! The walk culminated at the famous Old Nick's Tavern where the owners, Ross and Sal Ellis, laid on a barbeque, which included egg and bacon butties (a frying pan on the side was used for the eggs!). I would like to thank the Club and everyone who supported me in raising funds for the charities. I will let everyone know the total amount raised, but at the moment it looks to be in the region of £2,500. Donations are still being accepted for either Help for Heroes or MASTOR-Lincs. I am now collecting the sponsor money in. The orthopaedic charity is doing well, so I put the tea money kindly donated by the club down on my sponsor form for Help for Heroes. If it is possible. please could the club-and anyone else who so kindly sponsored me-please forward me a cheque directly made out to 'Help for Heroes' and not myself, this would make things a lot easier. I would like to thank the Club and everyone who so kindly sponsored me, for all your truly wonderful help and support with my venture. Thank You! Click here for photograph.

  • 18 Jan 10: Message from Ken Maggs. There was marked success in the Northern Indoor Championships at Sheffield.  Bourne based athlete, Adam Mohan won the gold medal in the under 20 mens shot putt by over 2.5m.   His putt of 16.94m was never threatened by any other athlete at the Championships.  This throw is an indoor club record and puts him second in the current years UK rankings (it would have ranked him 3rd in the UK rankings last year).  Other notable results were Emma Hornsby's club record 10.03s in the under 15 girls 60m hurdles and Emily Maltby's 8.19s in the heats of the under 17 ladies 60m broke a club record that has existed since 1994.  Lukasz Bezulski was also unlucky twice beaten into fourth place in both the under 17s 400m and 800m. Click here for results.
  • 11 Jan 10: Georgie Ivens won bronze atthe South of England Indoor Championships at Lee Valley on 10.01.10. Very well done Georgie. Click here for more details.
